Job summary

Queensland Government in Rockhampton is seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager for Rockhampton Hospital's Intensive Care Unit. You will combine advanced clinical practice with operational leadership to support day-to-day ICU operations.

The role focuses on staffing, workforce development, patient flow, clinical governance, and quality improvement, with leadership support during the NUM’s absence and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration (mandatory).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Intensive Care Nursing is highly desirable.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in leadership and/or management are highly regarded.

  • Support safe and effective day-to-day running of the ICU.
  • Lead staffing and skill mix, workforce development, patient flow, and clinical governance.

Job description

About us:Rockhampton Hospital's Intensive Care Unit is the only ICU within Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, providing complex multisystem intensive care for patients from across the region. Our contemporary unit operates as a Level 5 Adult and Level 4 Paediatric ICU, with eight operational beds and capacity to flex to ten depending on staffing. The team provides advanced life support including ventilation, renal replacement therapy and invasive cardiovascular monitoring.About the role:Take the next step in your critical care leadership career as Associate Nurse Unit Manager within Rockhampton Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.Working in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager, you'll combine advanced clinical practice with operational leadership, supporting the safe and effective day-to-day running of the ICU. You'll play an important role in staffing and skill mix, workforce development, patient flow, clinical governance and quality improvement, while providing leadership in the NUM's absence when required.This is an opportunity to influence how the unit operates, support and develop your colleagues, and contribute to a positive, accountable and high-performing ICU team.About you:You'll be an experienced Registered Nurse with strong critical care capability and the confidence to step into a senior clinical and operational leadership role.You'll bring advanced clinical judgement, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys developing others, building an engaged team culture and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA is mandatory.
