Job summary

Queensland Government invites applications for the role of Midwifery Unit Manager at Rockhampton Hospital. You will lead a multidisciplinary maternity team, oversee staffing and budgets, and drive woman-centred care within a Level 4 maternity service that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.

The role is day-shift, full-time, and aims to strengthen safety, quality and staff development across the unit, with opportunities to influence service delivery and innovation.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with NMBA registration and current practicing status.
• Advanced midwifery knowledge with sound clinical judgement.
• Proven experience leading teams and managing maternity unit operations.

About us:Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, with our Maternity Service supporting around 1,400 births each year. We provide Level 4 maternity and special care nursery services, alongside Midwifery Group Practice and the Gumma Gundoo model of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.Our team is focused on providing safe, respectful and woman-centred care while giving midwives the support and opportunity to work to their full scope of practice.About the role:This is an opportunity to lead one of Central Queensland's key maternity services and make a genuine impact on the experience of women, families and the midwives who care for them.As Midwifery Unit Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of Rockhampton's Maternity Unit, working alongside experienced clinical and operational leaders.You'll have the opportunity to:lead and support a multidisciplinary maternity teamcreate a positive workplace where midwives can grow and work to their full scopeoversee staffing, rostering, resources and budgetsstrengthen woman-centred and midwifery-led models of caredrive improvements in safety, quality and the experience of women and familiessupport innovation, professional development and positive change across the service.The role is predominantly day shift and is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity.About you:You're an experienced Registered Midwife who enjoys leading people as much as providing great maternity care.
