Job summary

SA Health in Adelaide is seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager for Flinders Medical Centre's Emergency Department. The role combines clinical nursing with unit leadership, reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager to guide a dedicated clinical team across shifts.

The position requires a registered nurse/midwife with at least 3 years' post-registration experience, a graduate certificate in Emergency Nursing, and leadership ability to mentor students and junior staff.

Lead From the Front — Associate Nurse Unit Manager, SALHN

As Associate Nurse Unit Manager at Flinders Medical Centre, you'll bring your clinical expertise into a leadership role that directly influences the quality of care delivered across your unit every shift. Working within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, you'll support and guide your nursing team while staying close to the bedside work that drew you to the profession.

About the role:

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible forleading a dedicated clinical team within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network while continuing to deliver exceptional patient care in a major tertiary hospital setting.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Division / Unit / Ward / Service are person and family centred and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers,
  • Ensure the effective management of human, financial and physical assets through appropriate planning and allocation of resources to achieve agreed Division / Unit / Ward / Service and strategic plans,
  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area,
  • Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis,
  • Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
  • Demonstrated competence in Emergency Department nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
  • Graduate certificate in Emergency Nursing,
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
