Job summary

Infrastructure NSW is seeking an Associate Director for Strategy, Planning and Innovation in Sydney. This temporary role supports decision-making across energy, water and telecommunications with a focus on decarbonisation and robust governance.

You will work with industry and government stakeholders to deliver policy reform, investment advice and high-quality strategic guidance through complex infrastructure programs.

This role is a temporary role up to September 2027, with the potential to be extended or possibly become ongoing.

It is a salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $154,231 - $178,369 base plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join us as the Associate Director, Strategy, Planning and Innovation working in the data centres and energy workstreams.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting robust infrastructure investment decision-making, the implementation of complex infrastructure policy reforms, managing government and industry stakeholders, and providing timely and strategic high-quality advice.

The role involves working closely with industry, utilities, and government stakeholders, in a complex environment with competing priorities that cut across infrastructure sectors, including energy, water and telecommunications.

It also involves supporting other infrastructure priority workstreams as required, such as decarbonisation.

Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:

• Plan, manage and monitor the implementation of a range of infrastructure policy initiatives using a variety of project management and collaboration tools to ensure milestones are met and outcomes and expectations are achieved.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to allow the gathering of information and analysis, and influence policy outcomes.
• Identify risks and opportunities related to initiatives and projects to inform key stakeholders in their decision-making and advise on options to resolve problems such that issues are minimised and planned for, and that beneficial opportunities are realised.
• Communicate effectively and with brevity with senior executives across the sector and provide clear, accurate and timely written and verbal advice on wide-ranging issues.
• Maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders within and outside Infrastructure NSW, and lead and provide guidance to junior team members to deliver a rage of initiatives in consultation with senior executives.

About You

Our ideal candidate brings extensive experience in policy analysis, with the ability to evaluate complex economic, financial and social issues impacting infrastructure. They possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience and have a strong track record of building and managing effective stakeholder relationships across diverse groups.
