The Position
The Associate Director, Admissions and Scholarships is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the Student Admissions and Scholarships Office and leading approximately 35 professional staff, supported by casual staff. The position manages the delivery of admissions, scholarships and related student administration services for domestic and international coursework, Honours, cross-institutional and non-award programs. The role oversees processes supporting approximately 27,000 applications annually and contributes significantly to the conversion of prospective students and the student experience. The position provides strategic and high-level advice to University Executives and senior staff on student lifecycle management, policy, legislation, risk, compliance and service delivery. It works closely with Colleges, central Divisions, Commonwealth agencies, external providers and sector peers to ensure effective and compliant student administration. The Associate Director also leads continuous improvement, workforce development, quality assurance, reporting and service enhancement to support the University's strategic objectives and student load targets.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading complex administrative operations, managing large teams and budgets, and delivering high-quality services within a tertiary institution or similar environment. They will demonstrate strong strategic planning, project management and business process improvement capabilities, with the ability to use data and performance metrics to inform decision-making. An effective leader and communicator, they will be skilled in managing change, developing staff and building productive relationships with diverse stakeholders. They will also bring a sound understanding of student administration, relevant legislation, policy and compliance requirements, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing the student experience.
