Job summary

The Lottery Corporation is seeking an Associate Data Operations Engineer in Melbourne to join our Data Platforms Operations team. This early-career role suits someone with a solid data foundation, curiosity, and a drive to resolve data issues and optimize pipelines.

You will support data pipelines, monitor systems, and contribute to automation using SQL, Python, and cloud technologies. Hybrid work arrangements apply as we continue to build a modern data platform for Australia’s largest lottery

Qualifications

• 1–3 years' experience in Data Operations, Data/AI Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE or similar.
• Strong SQL skills and confidence investigating data issues.
• Exposure to cloud environments such as GCP or AWS.
• Understanding of data pipelines, ETL and data warehousing concepts.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD or Python.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn in production environments.

We're looking for an Associate Data Operations Engineer to join our Data Platforms Operations team. This is an early-career opportunity for someone with strong technical foundations, a real aptitude for data and, most importantly, the curiosity to dig into a problem and figure out what's happening.

This is very much an operations role. Some days you'll investigate why data isn't appearing where it should. Others you might respond to a platform alert, troubleshoot a pipeline, improve monitoring or find a smarter way to automate a repetitive task.

What you'll do

• Once you're fully established, participate in our 24/7 on-call roster

What you'll bring

• Around 1-3 years' experience in Data Operations, Data/AI Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE or similar
• Strong SQL skills and confidence investigating data issues
• Exposure to a cloud environment such as GCP or AWS
• An understanding of data pipelines, ETL and data warehousing concepts
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD or Python
• An interest in how modern Data and AI workloads operate in production
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a willingness to get stuck into incidents
• Curiosity, initiative and a genuine appetite to learn
