Job summary

GrainCorp in Roma West is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to work with the Site Manager and a team of grain handlers to ensure safe, efficient grain receiving, storage and outloading by road and rail.

You will coordinate daily workflow, develop relationships with growers and customers, and support planning and execution of maintenance, safety and quality activities during peak harvest periods.

About the role

As our Roma West Assistant Site Manager, you'll work closely with the Site Manager and a great team of permanent Grain Handlers to help deliver a safe, smooth and efficient service in receiving, storing and outloading grain by both road and rail.

Alongside a variety of hands-on grain handling tasks that keep our operation moving, you will also:

• Coordinate day-to-day workflow of the team and support to attract, select, train, and develop permanent and casual team members
• Develop and maintain relationships with growers, customers, local community groups and internal stakeholders
• Support the resource planning for grain receival / outload activity during peak and off-peak periods
• Support the planning and execution of scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance, grain protection, safety and quality activities and related reporting
• Supervise a large seasonal workforce during our busy harvest intake periods, including at multiple sites.

About your experience

Our ideal candidate has plant operations experience gained in any industry, a strong safety mindset, and a genuine desire to make a positive contribution to the thriving agricommodities industry. You should also have:

• Some experience in supervising/leading teams (or the potential to)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
• Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast paced operational environment
