Figtree Anglican Church
Location: Figtree, NSW
Location type: On-Site
Date advertised: 22nd October 2026
Job Type: Full time
Closing Date: 27th November 2026
Figtree Anglican Church is in the heavenly Illawarra on the NSW South Coast, an hour south of Sydney. With over 600 gathering each Sunday, we are biblical, reformed, evangelical, Anglican and Kingdom-focussed as a church family.
Our diocese purpose is“We’re for Jesus…” God’s purpose for us is “Jesus for everyone. Forever.” Our mission pathways are “Come & See | Follow Me | Go & Tell” and our vision is for “Growing faithful and fruitful disciples of Jesus in Figtree and further afield for the glory of God.”
Our Ministry Team and Parish Council work closely through Ministry Area Teams, ensuring strategic and operational alignment between ministry and governance. This supports clear communication, coordination and shared purpose as we grow.
We are asking God for a full-time ordained Assistant Minister to lead our intergenerational 6pm congregation, reporting to the Senior Minister. We see 200-300 gathering on a Sunday night. As we pivot from an “M’s” framework to a congregational model, you will take responsibility for the spiritual health, pastoral culture, and growth of the evening congregation, while contributing to the Ministry Team.
You will oversee worship (ideally bringing gifts in creative arts), preaching, prayer, pastoral care, discipleship, invitation, evangelism and leadership development. Working closely with our 6pm female Associate Minister and ministry leaders you will strengthen pathways from Youth through 6pm into Young Adults and beyond.
You will contribute to our 2027-2030 gospel centred preaching plan, directed by the Senior Minister and delivered by a team under his oversight. You will foster faithful biblical teaching, prayer, and pastoral care and fostering a place to belong, valuing Gospel-centred living, relating to God, offering ourselves to serve and worship Jesus, invite others, nurture believers and shape generational disciples.
You are a prayerful, biblically grounded pastor and preacher experienced in congregational and/or substantial ministry leadership, pastoral care, developing leaders and cultivating an invitational culture.
You discover, disciple, develop, and deploy vocational and volunteer team members, establish sustainable ministry pathways, collaborate well and welcome accountability. You share FAC’s theological commitments, mission, and prayerfully discerned vision. Godly character, biblical conviction, ministry gifts and the chemistry to work fruitfully with our existing team will carry significant weight.
You are ordained in the Anglican Church, eligible for licensing in the Diocese of Sydney and hold a theological degree. Further theological study is welcomed.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land upon which Anglican churches, schools and organisations meet and serve
from the Hawkesbury River south to Ulladulla and Sutton Forest, and west to the Blue Mountains and Lithgow.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging,
and pray that God will unite us all in a knowledge of his Son, in whom all things were created.
