Job summary

Riverside Anglican Church is seeking a godly, gifted, and theologically trained female Assistant Pastor to join our newly united church family. This part-time role (ideally 3–4 days per week) reports to the Senior Pastor and includes leadership in women's ministry and potential oversight of music, membership, or cross-cultural ministry.

Housing support and a pro-rata stipend are provided according to Sydney Diocesan guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach the Bible faithfully, clearly, and practically.
• Pastoral care experience within a Congregation.
• Ability to lead and train ministry teams.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership ability.
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Willingness to work both independently and as part of a staff team.

Responsibilities

• Discipling women in the church and running women's ministry events.
• Overseeing one of Membership Pastor, Cross-cultural ministry, or Music Ministry based on gifting.
• Leading upfront ministry in Sunday services and contributing to staff discussions.
• Engaging outsiders and enfolding newcomers into the community.

At the start of 2026, St Aidan’s Hurstville Grove and St Paul’s Oatley amalgamated to become one united church, under the leadership of a new Senior Pastor. We are a growing church of around 350 adults and children, with a deep desire to see more people know Jesus and grow in him.

We are now seeking a godly, gifted and theologically trained female Assistant Pastor to join us in this exciting new chapter. This position reports to the Senior Pastor and is Part Time (ideally between 3-4 days a week, depending on the applicant).

You will be a significant member of our new combined staff team:

1. Helping disciple the women of our church

• Developing a strategy for women’s ministry, including running around 2 women’s discipleship events each year.
• Encouraging and training women for ministry.

2. You will take responsibility for one of the following, based on giftingand experience (please note- this is up for discussion based on the number of days the applicant works):

• Membership Pastor: Helping lead our welcoming teams, creating a welcoming culture in our services, driving the follow up of newcomers from our team, and helping coordinate termly newcomers nights.
• Cross-cultural ministry: Helping evangelise, disciple and train people in our cross cultural ministry programs.
• Music Ministry: Lead and unify our music and tech teams across both sites, shaping training, song selection, and ministry culture.

3. Serving as a key leader in our staff team, which includes:

• Contributing to discussions about strategy
• Helping connect with outsiders and enfold newcomers into the community.
• Identifying congregation members gifts and empowering them for ministry.
• Upfront ministry in Sunday services.

Character, Qualifications and Experience

• Person of Christian Character with demonstrated commitment to Reformed Evangelical Christian values.
• A life that demonstrates grace and the transforming sanctifying work of God
• A passionate love for both Christ and his church, and a desire to see lives transformed by the gospel
• A servant heart that is willing to commit to the mission and direction of our church
• Teachable and willing to learn, with an ability to work both with and under authority, in the context of our ministry team and under the leadership of the Senior Pastor
• A commitment to complementarian convictions, with an openness to explore what that looks like in practice.
• Bachelor or Masters theological degree required (or working towards one), ideally with previous vocational ministry experience.

Skills and Capabilities

• Proven ability to lead and train groups and ministry teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• The ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
• A passion and enthusiasm to work with and trainserving members

Stipend

Pro-rata stipend/salary will be according to Sydney Diocesan recommendations based on qualifications and experience. Housing or housing allowance will be provided.

Start Date

We are open to timing based on the applicant, but ideally looking for someone who would begin around March 2027

Closing date for submissions is 20th November, however we reserve the right to close the role early if a suitable applicant is found.
