Job summary

The Gap Tavern, part of Endeavour Group, is seeking an Assistant Manager who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality hub. You’ll lead peak shifts, mentor the team, and ensure a welcoming, high-energy experience for locals and visitors alike across the bar, bistro and gaming room.

This hands-on role requires practical lifting tasks and a commitment to safety, while licensing requirements (RSA/RSG, RMLV, Approved Managers Licence) are met.

• RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence required by state regulations

About the Role

Assistant Manager | The Gap Tavern

If you are a hands-on manager who thrives in the center of the action, The Gap Tavern offers a dynamic, scenic stage for your leadership skills. From busy weekend family dining on the bistro deck and live sports trade to high-touch service in our gaming room, no two days here are ever the same.

You won't be working in isolation, our management structure relies on a collaborative group of Assistant Managers working together on the floor. You’ll partner directly with fellow venue leaders to run peak shifts, mentor our energetic hospitality crew, coordinate cross-departmental operations, and deliver an outstanding experience for our regular locals and community.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

• This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
