Job summary

Beckons is seeking an Executive Assistant Manager for Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island. You will work with the General Manager to lead all guest-facing operations, ensuring remarkable experiences at a premier wilderness lodge.

You'll be hands-on, visible on the floor, directing front office, F&B and housekeeping while developing your leadership skills within Beckons' expanding portfolio. The role is residential with accommodation and meals provided, requiring flexibility to cover weekends

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading food and beverage operations or senior departmental management.
• Background in luxury or 5-star accommodation, ideally in remote or lodge settings.
• Strong leadership with a track record of developing people.

Executive Assistant Manager, Southern Ocean Lodge

This is more than a role, it's a launchpad. As Executive Assistant Manager at Southern Ocean Lodge, you'll work alongside our General Manager in leading one of Australia's most celebrated luxury wilderness lodges. You'll learn how we do it at Beckons, master every facet of lodge operations, and position yourself to take on expanded leadership roles across our growing portfolio of properties.

This is hands-on leadership across all guest-facing operations. You will lead from the floor, guiding the team through service, hosting guests, and stepping in wherever needed to keep the lodge running seamlessly. You'll also take responsibility for the property in the General Manager's absence alongside the other Assistant Lodge Manager.

This is a residential role based on Kangaroo Island, with accommodation and meals provided.

What You'll Do

• Support the General Manager across all lodge operations
• Lead guest experience, front office, food and beverage and housekeeping teams
• Act as Manager on Duty, taking full responsibility for the lodge as required
• Host guests and build genuine connections throughout their stay
• Drive service standards, presentation and attention to detail across the property
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance of the team
• Manage rosters, labour costs and operational budgets
• Oversee workplace health and safety, compliance and emergency procedures
• Work closely with the wider Beckons team on projects and reporting
• Develop your management capability and front office expertise alongside your F&B foundation

What You'll Bring

You are a passionate and experienced hospitality leader with a strong background in food and beverage. You enjoy being visible, hands-on and involved. You lead calmly, care deeply about your team, and understand what exceptional service looks like in a luxury setting.

You will have:

• Significant experience in food and beverage leadership or senior departmental management
• A background in luxury or 5-star accommodation, ideally a remote or lodge environment
• Strong leadership skills with a genuine interest in developing people
• Confidence to grow your expertise across front office and multi-department operations
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
• A current driver's licence
• Willingness to live and work on Kangaroo Island in a residential setting
• Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
