Job summary

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is seeking an Assistant in Nursing at Freeman House in Armidale, NSW. You will support residents and inpatients with person-centred care, working with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, respectful environment throughout treatment and recovery.

You will perform daily living support, monitor vital signs and assist with admissions, discharges, and medications under supervision, while upholding infection control and documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or an equivalent qualification.
  • A compassionate and respectful approach to supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting clients with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, dressing, mobility and meals.
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs, escalating changes or concerns to the clinical team.
  • Assisting with admissions, discharges and associated documentation.
  • Supporting the administration of medications and treatments under appropriate supervision.
  • Providing reassurance, encouragement and emotional support to clients and their families.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and client records.
  • Following infection control, safety and clinical care protocols.
  • Working collaboratively with the broader team to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Your Role

As anAssistant in Nursing at Freeman House , you will play an important role in supporting residents and inpatients throughout their treatment and recovery journey.Working alongside a caring and experienced multidisciplinary team, you will provide practical, person-centred care while helping to create an environment where people feel safe, respected and empowered.

Your Responsibility

You Will Need
  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or an equivalent qualification
  • AHPRA registration or completion of an approved Assistant in Nursing program
  • A compassionate and respectful approach to supporting people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of infection control and safe work practices
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
