Job summary

a'Mare in Sydney's harbour-side precinct is seeking an energetic Assistant Head Sommelier to lead our wine program and elevate guests' dining experiences. You will manage inventory, curate the wine list with our chefs, and collaborate with the Beverage Director to drive wine education and guest experiences.

With a minimum of 3 years in a similar role and a WSET Level 3, you will ensure outstanding service. Australian working rights required; competitive 80k–90k AUD plus super and growth

Qualifications

• Strong wine knowledge across Italian, French and Australian selections.
• Experience in managing wine programs, staff training and education.
• Solid understanding of cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain wine inventory with precision and care.
• Collaborate with Beverage Director and wine team on sales mix and education.
• Curate and update the wine list with chefs.
• Oversee wine service to uphold high standards.
• Train, mentor and inspire Sommeliers and Wine Waiters.
• Organise wine dinners and events.
• Assist guests with wine pairings to enhance dining experiences.
