Job summary

SCENTRE GROUP LIMITED is seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager for Westfield Hurstville in Sydney. You will lead a small team, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safe, compliant, high‑quality facilities services for shoppers and retailers.

This full‑time role focuses on maintenance planning, asset performance and sustainability, with opportunities to shape long‑term strategies in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• Background in retail, hospitality, property, or facilities management.
• Experience in hard services such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to manage maintenance tasks and projects to quality, timing and budget.
• Experience leading compliance and safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulations.
• Confident working with contractors, service providers and internal teams to maintain high standards.
• Ability to adapt quickly, address unexpected challenges, and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Facilities Manager in leading day-to-day facilities operations across the destination.
• Lead, coach and support Facilities Coordinators, creating clear priorities, accountability and capability across the team.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, contractor performance and service delivery to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance standards are met.
• Support planning and delivery of asset maintenance, repair and capital works, ensuring activities are delivered to scope, timing, quality and budget.
• Monitor facilities expenditure and contractor costs, supporting budgeting, forecasting and cost management activities.
• Partner with centre stakeholders, contractors and service providers to coordinate facilities activities and deliver positive outcomes for customers and retailers.
• Support incident and emergency response processes, ensuring issues are managed effectively and escalated appropriately.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and asset performance.

Your Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Assistant Facilities Manager to join our team at Westfield Hurstville.

At the heart of our Westfield destinations, our Facilities Team plays a critical role in ensuring our centres operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance. From day-to-day operations to long-term strategic planning, this hands‑on leadership role will allow you to make a tangible impact every day.

As an Assistant Facilities Manager, you’ll lead a small, dedicated team, work closely with contractors and service providers, and act as the key point of contact for all facilities‑related matters. You’ll also contribute to shaping long‑term asset strategies, championing sustainability and drive smarter, more efficient operational outcomes.

This is a full‑time permanent role based at Westfield Hurstville.

Day‑to‑day you will be responsible for:

• Support the Facilities Manager in leading day‑to‑day facilities operations across the destination
• Lead, coach and support Facilities Coordinators, creating clear priorities, accountability and capability across the team
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, contractor performance and service delivery to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance standards are met.
• Support the planning and delivery of asset maintenance, repair and capital works, ensuring activities are delivered to agreed scope, timing, quality and budget
• Monitor facilities expenditure and contractor costs, supporting budgeting, forecasting and cost management activities
• Partner with centre stakeholders, contractors and service providers to coordinate facilities activities and deliver positive outcomes for customers and retailers.
• Support incident and emergency response processes, ensuring issues are managed effectively and escalated appropriately.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and asset performance.

As part of the centre management team, you will undertake Duty Manager responsibilities following comprehensive emergency management training. This includes participating in a rostered weekend duty manager shift, with a day in lieu provided.
