.ABOUT THE TASKFORCE

The Naval Infrastructure and Investment Taskforce supports the Australian Government’s delivery and investment of nationally significant naval infrastructure. The Taskforce’s work spans supporting the delivery and financing for the Henderson Defence Precinct and Osborne Naval Shipyard, shareholder oversight of ASC and ANI, and broader activities that support Australia’s current and future nuclear-powered submarine enterprise.

The Taskforce provides integrated support and advice to Defence, the Australian Submarine Agency and other Commonwealth stakeholders across a broad range of workstreams reflecting the scale, sensitivity and complexity of these priorities.

The Taskforce also advises the Finance Minister on the Commonwealth’s ownership interests and shareholder functions for ANI and ASC, including through analysis and briefing on company performance reporting, annual reporting, corporate planning, director appointments, governance, meetings and other activities in line with applicable Shareholder Agreements. This work forms part of the Taskforce’s broader contribution to strengthening the infrastructure, commercial and governance foundations that support Australia’s naval shipbuilding and submarine enterprise.

ABOUT THEOPPORTUNITY

Multiple Asistant Director roles are available to support senior leadership across the Taskforce’s work program, driving delivery of complex, high-priority workstreams providing strategic advice on commercial, financing, governance and implementation matters. The roles will require sound judgement, strong political awareness and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and sensitive policy and delivery environment on a major Defence project.

As a senior member of a small and high-performing team, you will support your director to lead and shape complex projects, oversee the preparation of high‑quality advice and briefing, manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships, direct the work of expert advisers and consultants, and support executive decision‑making on issues of significant strategic importance to Government.

Assistant directors will be responsible for leading discrete workstreams elements, managing specialist advisers, coordinating cross‑agency input, supporting governance forums, shaping submissions and briefs to Government, and resolving interdependencies across financing, commercial, design, regulatory, stakeholder and delivery workstreams. The roles will suit candidates who can translate complex technical and commercial advice into clear options, risks and recommendations for senior executives and Ministers.
