ISS Facility Services in Adelaide is seeking an experienced Assistant Catering Manager to lead healthcare food service operations at Modbury Hospital. Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a senior hospitality or food services leadership role.
• Experience in catering, hospitality, healthcare catering, or food services.
• Knowledge of menu planning, product development, and food innovation.
• Strong understanding of food safety legislation, HACCP principles, and industry best practices.
• Proven experience leading and developing large operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the Catering Manager in daily operations of the catering and food services department.
• Coordinate meal production, plating, distribution, and service to ensure accuracy, safety, and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP and healthcare standards in all operations.
• Supervise, coach, and develop catering team members to achieve excellence.
• Collaborate with dietitians, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to meet patient dietary needs.
• Monitor service quality, productivity, and operational performance.
• Assist rostering, workforce planning, and labour management.
• Support budgeting, cost control, stock management, and continuous improvement.
• Foster safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.

About the role:

Our team is growing, and we are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Catering Manager. Reporting to the Catering Manager – Health (SA), you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of healthcare food services, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of meals to patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Based at Modbury Hospital, the role will also provide support across ISS Health operations within the Adelaide metropolitan region as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Catering Manager in the effective day-to-day operation of the catering and food services department
• Coordinate and oversee meal production, plating, distribution, and service to ensure meals are delivered accurately, safely, and on time
• Ensure all catering operations comply with HACCP principles, food safety regulations, and healthcare standards
• Supervise, support, coach, and develop catering team members to achieve operational excellence
• Collaborate closely with dietitians, speech pathologists, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient dietary requirements are met accurately
• Monitor service quality, productivity, and operational performance
• Assist with rostering, workforce planning, and labour management
• Support budgeting, cost control, stock management, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Foster a positive workplace culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service

About You:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior hospitality or food services leadership role
• Experience within catering, hospitality, food services, or a healthcare catering environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of menu planning, product development, and food innovation
• Strong understanding of food safety legislation, HACCP principles, and industry best practices
• Proven experience leading and developing large operational teams
• Sound financial, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial management capability
• Experience using CARPS, Delegate, or similar operational systems
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and time management skills
• Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams while maintaining high performance standards

Additional Requirements:

• Flexibility to work across multiple SA Health sites.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment medical assessments and background checks.
• Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to undertake SA Health Worker Category A immunisation requirements.
