Job summary

AXR Recruitment & Search – Sydney North Shore NSW is seeking an Assistant Accountant (Temp to Perm) for a not-for-profit client on the Lower North Shore. The role involves preparing journals and reconciliations in the finance system with support from an experienced team; ideal for someone studying CPA/CA moving from AR or AP into accounting.

Hybrid work is offered with an office near the Metro. Salary is $75,000 to $90,000 base plus Superannuation and not-for-profit salary packaging.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounting support, AR or AP role with interest in moving into accounting.
• Studying CPA or CA or planning to start.
• An accounting degree or similar qualification is desirable.
• Experience preparing journals and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and exposure to an ERP system; Epicor is a bonus.
• Experience dealing with individuals or families is advantageous.
• Driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post day-to-day journals across receivables and payables, incl. dishonoured debits and bank adjustments.
• Prepare balance sheet and fixed asset reconciliations for review.
• Complete daily and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist accounts receivable team on bad debt provision.
• Support month-end close, including journals and variance analysis.
• Assist with audit preparation and maintain supporting documentation.
• Visit sites occasionally to collaborate with operational teams.

Job Brief

Our client is looking for an Assistant Accountant who enjoys doing the detailed work themselves: preparing journals and reconciliations directly in the finance system. You'll have the support of an experienced team as you build your accounting skills. The role suits someone studying CPA or CA who has come from AR or AP and is ready to move into accounting.

About Our Client

Our client is a well established not for profit organisation. The finance team is small, social and supportive, with a mix of experience levels and a strong focus on helping people grow. The function is currently bringing transactional work across from another state into Sydney, and this role is part of building that team.

Responsibilities

• Experience in an environment where you deal directly with individuals or families, rather than businesses, is an advantage
• Happy to travel to sites from time to time; a driver's licence is an advantage
