Job summary

Voyages Tourism Australia, based in Sydney, seeks an organised Assistant Accountant to support financial reporting, month-end processes and day-to-day accounting operations across the business. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and a collaborative finance team in a dynamic hospitality environment.

You will contribute to accurate financials, assist with reconciliations, and help maintain controls while aligning with company social responsibility values.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Assistant Accountant.
• CA/CPA Qualified or working towards.
• Experience with Business Central (BC) accounting systems, Opera PMS, Shiji POS and Rezdy is well regarded.

Responsibilities

• Perform booking system reconciliations to ensure accurate integration of financial information into BC.
• Assist with month end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
• Support daily finance operations, including bank reconciliations.

Voyages Tourism Australia offers experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations, including Ayers Rock Resort in the iconic Red Centre and tourism facilities in Mossman Gorge, located in tropical Queensland.

This role is located at our office in Sydney, which serves as a central hub, providing support to our operational teams based in our two locations.

We are seeking a highly organised, process-driven, and detail-oriented accounting professional with previous experience in hospitality and tourism finance to join our Finance Team as an Assistant Accountant. In this role, you will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, assist with month-end processes, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day management of accounting operations across the business. Key duties:

• Perform booking system reconciliations to ensure accurate integration of financial information into Business Central (BC) and investigate any discrepancies.
• Assist with month end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journals, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and outstanding items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
• Support daily finance operations, including bank reconciliations.

To be successful for this role you will have:

• Prior experience as an Assistant Accountant
• CA/CPA Qualified or working towards
• Experience within “Business Central” (BC) accounting systems, Opera Property Management System (PMS), Shiji POS and Rezdy are well regarded
