Job summary

Sirius. in Sydney is seeking an energetic Assistant Accountant to join a fast-paced retail finance team on a temporary basis. You will support the Financial Controller with store reconciliations, inventory tracking, and day-to-day retail accounting operations.

Responsibilities include reconciliations, high-volume AP/AR, inventory adjustments, month-end tasks, and BAS/GST preparation. Full working rights in Australia are required, with immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduates with accounting or finance degree/diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or e-commerce.
• Proficient in ERP/retail accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

• Store & POS reconciliations including bank, EFT/POS, cash drawer, and inventory accounts.
• Process high-volume supplier and stock invoices; reconcile vendor accounts and run payments.
• Track stock movements, assist with inventory write-offs and store audits.
• Assist with month-end accruals, prepayments, journals, and margin analysis.
• Support BAS/GST and general finance tasks for retail operations.

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our fast-paced retail finance team in Sydney on a temporary basis. Supporting our Financial Controller, you will play a key role in inventory tracking, store reconciliations, and day-to-day retail accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Store & POS Reconciliations: Perform daily bank, merchant terminal (EFT/POS), cash drawer, and inventory account reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process high-volume supplier and stock invoices, reconcile vendor accounts, and manage payment runs.
• Inventory & Stock Adjustments: Track stock movements, assist with inventory write-offs, shrinkage adjustments, and store audit reporting.
• Month-End Support: Assist with month-end accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and store margin analysis.
• Compliance & Ad-hoc: Help with BAS/GST preparation and general finance support for retail operations.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or pursuing CPA/CA).
• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in accounting, ideally within retail, FMCG, or e-commerce.
• Proficiency in ERP or retail accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Xero, MYOB, SAP) and strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
• Familiarity with inventory management and high-volume transaction environments.
• Full working rights in Australia (Working Holiday Visa 417/462 welcome; immediate start required).
