IAIP in Western Sydney is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support month-end close, GL integrity, and intercompany reconciliations. The role will work under the Head of Country Finance, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.

The successful candidate will contribute to year-end activities, tax lodgement, and process improvements, with exposure to SAP-based ERP systems in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Similar experience in an all-rounder Accounting role is necessary.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar large ERP would be ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Support the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Manage the Goods Received/Invoice Received reconciliation process.
  • Prepare and deliver variance analysis of monthly financial results.
  • Support year-end financial results and audit processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors on audit timelines.
  • Assist in maintaining robust internal controls and segregation of duties.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare, review and lodge indirect tax obligations in Australia (BAS, Payroll Tax, FB Tax).
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, reconciliations and invoicing.
  • Coordinate with finance teams to align intercompany balances with group policies.
  • Maintain Fixed Assets Register and review vendor master data.
  • Monitor AP and AR metrics and support process improvements.

Assistant Accountant needed urgently for a thriving business in Western Sydney!Your new company is a well-known organisation in Western Sydney looking to hire an Assistant Accountant.



  • Support the timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process.

  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including accurate transaction coding, authorisation, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Manage the Goods Received/Invoice Received reconciliation process

  • Prepare and deliver meaningful variance analysis of monthly financial results, providing insights to support the Head of Country Finance and business stakeholders.

  • Play a key role in the delivery of year-end financial results, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to reporting timelines.

  • Support the year-end external audit process by preparing schedules, responding to auditor queries, and coordinating documentation requests.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to facilitate an efficient and timely audit process.

  • Support the Head of Country Finance in maintaining a robust internal control environment, ensuring effective financial and operational controls are designed, implemented, and monitored across the business.

  • Assist in ensuring appropriate segregation of duties, delegation of authority, and control compliance to mitigate operational and financial risks.

  • Assist the team in driving continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and overall control effectiveness.

  • Support the accurate and timely preparation, review and lodgement of all indirect tax obligations in Australia, including Business Activity Statement (BAS), Payroll Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.

  • Oversee the timely and accurate validation and processing of intercompany transactions and invoicing.

  • Perform monthly intercompany account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure variances are resolved promptly.

  • Partner with finance teams to ensure alignment of intercompany balances and compliance with group policies.

  • Maintain and manage Fixed Assets Register

  • Review and maintain vendor master data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.

  • Monitor AP and AR performance metrics, supporting timely issue resolution and process optimisation.


What you'll need to succeed
