Job summary

Workers Lifestyle Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in a hands-on role that supports day-to-day financial processing and reporting.

You will work under the Management Accountant to help manage AP/AR, month-end processes and internal controls while partnering with operations to drive financial performance. Hospitality experience is advantageous for this growing group.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion).
• 2-3 years previous experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, allocating debtor payments and responding to supplier queries.
• Ensure invoices are accurately coded, processed and paid within agreed payment terms.
• Prepare supplier payment runs, credit applications and maintain accurate supplier records.
• Prepare month-end journals and reconciliations, including AP accruals, FBT and prepayments.
• Process employee expense claims, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is provided.
• Manage company vehicle and machinery registrations and insurance, maintaining accurate records.
• Manage fuel cards and other supplier cards, ensuring transactions are appropriately supported and submitted for review.
• Complete daily balancing and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Support internal and external audit processes and provide information as required.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies and internal controls.

ABOUT THE ROLE

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion)
• 2-3 years previous experience in an accounting or finance role
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn

Experience in hospitality, clubs, gaming, hotels, restaurants or retail will be highly regarded.
