Job summary

AdventCare in Victoria is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the Financial Controller, Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable in a full-time, on-site role at our senior care facilities.

You will assist with month-end close, journal postings (accruals, prepayments and adjustments), timesheet reviews, payroll processing, and annual financial statements. Strong accounting foundation and experience in an aged care setting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level qualification in accounting/finance or related field.
• Experience in an accounting role including payroll.
• Experience with Technology One Financials and HRP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in completing the month end close.
• Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and other adjustments.
• Review and reconcile timesheets.
• Maintain employee personnel files and establish new files.
• Process payroll.
• Assist in Medicare funding/billing items follow-up.
• Prepare monthly funding statement reconciliations.
• Process charges, billing, direct debits and statements.
• Prepare refunds of AR, BOND, RAD and ILU contributions.
• Process payments and remittance advices.
• Complete financial surveys, insurance forms, compliance returns.
• Prepare Retirement Village annual financial statements.
• Maintain the asset register.

AdventCare is a highly sought after Christian provider of Aged Care and Retirement living across three sites in Victoria.

About the Role

This is an onsite full-time role of 5 days per week or 1.00 FTE with a compressed working week – half day Friday! This is a broad role, part of small team of 5, which will see you supporting the Financial Controller, Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Responsibilities

As the Assistant Accountant your duties will include but not limited to:

Assist in completing the month end close.

Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and other adjustments.

Assisting in the review and reconciliation of timesheets.

Assisting in the maintenance of employee personnel files and establishing new files.

Processing the payroll.

Assisting in following up Medicare on any outstanding funding or billing items.

Preparing monthly funding statement reconciliations.

Processing charges and billing, direct debits and statement runs.

Preparing the Refund of AR, BOND, RAD and ILU Entry Contributions.

Processing payments and remittance advices.

Completing financial surveys, insurance forms, compliance returns.

Preparing Retirement Village annual financial statements.

Maintaining the asset register.

Skills and Experience

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.

Proven ability to calculate, post and manage financial records.

Strong time management and ability to deliver on deadlines.

Strong communication skills – written and verbal.

Strong attention to detail.

Intermediate user of financial accounting systems.

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.

Experience in an accounting role.

Experience processing Payroll.

Experience with Technology One Financials and HRP.

Experience in residential aged care and retirement living.
