Job summary

Frizelle Sunshine Automotive in Southport is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role centers on financial operations within one of Australia’s largest automotive dealer groups.

Your day-to-day involves handling AP/AR, deal processing, month-end reconciliations, and supporting financial statements and management reports across multiple locations. You’ll gain broad exposure and develop skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance or progress toward one.
• Experience in a similar accounting or finance support role.
• Proficient with accounting software and Excel for reconciliations and reporting.
• Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Clear communicator who can work with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Automotive or multi-site dealership accounting experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions on time and accurately.
• Handle deal processing and cost accounting tasks.
• Assist with month-end reconciliations and reporting to understand close processes.
• Support preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.

• Deal Processing functions; cost accounting

• Supporting the preparation of financial statements and management reports that inform decisions across the group
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts and investigating variances, sharpening your analytical skills with every review

• Assisting with audit preparation and compliance tasks, building knowledge that will serve your career long term

• Practical experience in a similar accounting or finance support role
• Comfortable working with accounting software and confident in Excel for reconciliations and reporting

• Clear communicator who can work effectively with both finance colleagues and non-finance stakeholders
• Familiarity with automotive or multi-site dealership accounting is an advantage, though not essential
