Rohrig in Newstead, Brisbane, is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team. This early-career role offers hands-on involvement across financial reporting, reconciliations, taxation, and month-end processes in a supportive environment.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in a Chartered Accounting setting, strong Excel skills, and a drive to progress toward CA qualification while contributing to group accounting and board reporting packs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
• 1–2 years' experience in a Chartered Accounting environment preferred.
• Progress towards CA qualification or ongoing study encouraged.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high accuracy.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsabilités

• Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and company credit cards.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations including fixed assets and intercompany loans.
• Monitor monthly cash flow forecasts and support their preparation.
• Process journals and supplier invoices accurately and timelily.
• Assist with Payroll Tax, FBT, and BAS submissions for review.
• Support month-end close including accruals and prepayments.
• Assist with group entity consolidation across locations.
• Contribute to monthly management accounts and board packs.
• Support process improvements within finance and reporting.

Our Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to further develop their technical skills, gain broad commercial exposure, and take the next step in their accounting career.

Ideal for candidates with 1-2 years' experience within a Chartered Accounting environment, this role offers hands-on involvement across financial reporting, reconciliations, taxation, month-end processes, and group accounting activities. You'll work closely with experienced finance professionals in a supportive environment that encourages learning, professional development, and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Reconciliation of bank accounts, petty cash, and company credit cards.

Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets and intercompany loan accounts.

Assist with the preparation and monitoring of monthly cash flow forecasts.

Process journals, invoices, and other accounting transactions accurately and efficiently.

Support the preparation of Payroll Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and BAS submissions for review by the Group Financial Controller and external tax advisors.

Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and expense analysis.

Assist with the consolidation of group entities across multiple geographical locations.

Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance processes and reporting functions.

Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and reliable.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a genuine desire to build a long-term career within accounting and finance.

You will ideally have:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

1-2 years' experience within a Chartered Accounting firm or similar accounting environment.

Progress towards, or an intention to commence, your CA qualification.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Exposure to accounting systems.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

A positive attitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
