Job summary

Perigon Group Pty Limited in Brisbane seeks an energetic assistant accountant to support accounts receivable and broader finance activities. You will work closely with operations to ensure accurate recording of sales, purchases and logistics transactions, while developing your accounting skills.

You will engage in bank and intercompany reconciliations, assist with month-end close, and contribute to financial reporting and compliance tasks as part of a growing team.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position.
• Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Pursuing CA/CPA qualification.
• Experience with invoicing, reconciliations and payment processing.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end activities.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
• Able to collaborate with operational stakeholders.
• Demonstrates proactive attitude toward developing accounting career.

Responsibilities

• Managing accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, reconciliations and collections.

For someone early in their accounting career, the position offers the chance to develop a strong understanding of how commercial transactions flow through a business, while progressively gaining exposure to broader financial accounting and reporting activities.

The Role

Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll play an important role in managing accounts receivable activities while supporting the wider team across financial transactions, reconciliations and month-end reporting.

The role offers a mix of transactional ownership and developing accounting responsibilities, making it well suited to someone who has built a foundation in finance and is ready to expand their experience.

About you

You'll have some practical experience in an accounting or finance support position and be looking for an opportunity to build on that foundation.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with financial transactions, enjoys getting the details right and is motivated to develop their accounting skills.

• At least two years' experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Receivable or similar finance position


• A degree in Accounting or a related discipline


• Recently commenced or currently studying towards CA/CPA qualification


• Experience with invoicing, reconciliations and payment processing


• A sound understanding of accounting principles and month-end activities


• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems


• Some exposure to foreign currency transactions


• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities


• Good communication skills and a willingness to work closely with operational stakeholders


• A proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing your accounting career

Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system would be advantageous, although not essential.
