Job summary

Logan City Council is seeking an Asset Rehabilitation Engineer to join the Road Asset Management Team. You will help plan and deliver road rehabilitation programs, assess pavement conditions, and support geotechnical investigations.

Role emphasizes data-driven decision making, use of GIS and new technologies, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to improve safety and sustainability of Logan's transport network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) is essential.
• Current Queensland C class Driver Licence.
• Current General Safety Induction (White Card - 30215).
• Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster.

• Support the development and delivery of road asset rehabilitation programs and road corridor management initiatives.
• Undertake road condition assessments, analysis, project scoping, structural investigations and asset performance reviews.
• Coordinate and support geotechnical investigations, pavement testing and soil classification activities.
• Assist in arranging and supervising specialist investigations including FWD and GPR testing.
• Support the mapping and management of geotechnical and asset data using GIS and other digital systems.
• Prepare technical reports, asset management documentation, specifications, guidelines and procedures.

Salary from: Permanent Full Time, From Level 6.1 $108,354.51 per annum + Superannuation

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Rehabilitation Engineer to join the Road Asset Management Team within Council.

This team is responsible for the strategic management, condition assessment, rehabilitation planning and optimisation of the City's road infrastructure assets. Through innovation, technical excellence and data-driven decision making, the team ensures the transport network remains safe, reliable and sustainable for the growing Logan community.

This position plays a key role in supporting the development and delivery of road rehabilitation programs, pavement investigations, geotechnical assessments and transport asset management initiatives. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will help shape the future of road infrastructure through the application of best-practice engineering principles, innovative technologies and continuous improvement.

Position Responsibilities include:

• Support the development and delivery of road asset rehabilitation programs and road corridor management initiatives.
• Undertake road condition assessments, analysis, project scoping, structural investigations and asset performance reviews.
• Coordinate and support geotechnical investigations, pavement testing and soil classification activities.
• Assist in arranging and supervising specialist investigations including Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) testing.
• Support the mapping and management of geotechnical and asset data using GIS and other digital systems.
• Investigate customer and Councillor enquiries and prepare technical advice and field reports.
• Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of transport infrastructure construction specifications, including AUS-SPEC or similar standards.
• Prepare technical reports, asset management documentation, specifications, guidelines and procedures.
• Support the adoption of innovative technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and data analytics within road asset management practices.
• Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive asset management outcomes.

Key indicators for success:

• Extensive experience in road pavement engineering and road asset management is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in pavement design, rehabilitation planning and transport asset management.
• Strong computer skills with experience using pavement design software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS), preferably ESRI, is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
• Proven ability to prepare technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation that support decision-making.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
• Demonstrated project coordination, organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability and willingness to undertake field inspections and site investigations.
• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Essential).
• Current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
• Current General Safety Induction (Construction Industry White Card - 30215).
• Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required.
