Job summary

Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking an Asset Accountant to manage the infrastructure portfolio’s financial information. You’ll work with finance, engineering, and asset management teams to ensure accurate data and reliable reporting.

You’ll contribute to asset valuations, renewals, and long-term planning while enhancing data integrity and system processes across GIS, Asset MyData, and TechnologyOne CiA in a regional context.

Qualifications

• Experience in asset accounting and infrastructure or local government preferred.
• Ability to maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation.
• Ability to prepare asset accounting information for annual statements and audits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate fixed asset registers, policies, procedures and controls.
• Support asset revaluations, depreciation and disposals per accounting standards.
• Maintain WIP and record asset capitalisations accurately.
• Prepare asset accounting information for financial statements and audits.
• Assist with lifecycle costing, renewal forecasts and investment planning.
• Improve asset data integrity and reporting across systems (Asset MyData, TechnologyOne CiA, GIS).
• Prepare PP&E disclosures for annual statutory statements and grant-funded projects.
• Collaborate across Council to share knowledge and improve practices.
