Job summary

Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking an Asset Accountant to maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation, and disclosures for the infrastructure portfolio. You will work with finance, engineering, and asset management to ensure accurate financial information and support long-term planning.

The role offers collaboration with GIS colleagues, preparation for external audits, and opportunities to contribute to broader financial accounting activities as your experience develops.

Qualifications

• Experience in asset accounting, infrastructure or local government is highly regarded.
• Strong accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Analytical skills and practical approach to systems, data and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate fixed asset registers, asset accounting policies, procedures and financial controls.
• Supporting annual asset revaluations, depreciation and disposals per accounting standards.
• Maintaining WIP register and asset capitalisation records.
• Preparing asset accounting information for annual financial statements and external audit.
• Assisting with lifecycle costing, renewal forecasting and infrastructure investment planning.
• Improving asset data integrity and reporting across financial and asset management systems (Asset MyData, TechnologyOne CiA, GIS).
• Managing PP&E disclosures for annual statutory financial statements.
