Ku-ring-gai Council in Sydney’s north seeks an experienced Asset Accountant to join our Finance team. You will independently manage complex asset accounting matters, including asset revaluations, depreciation, and financial reporting, working with Asset Managers and stakeholders to support strategic asset management and long-term financial planning.

This role drives improvements in processes and internal controls, coordinates audits, and ensures compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.

Formación

• Degree in Accounting or related discipline with relevant experience.
• Minimum three years' experience in asset accounting or similar role within a complex organisation.
• Experience maintaining asset registers and accounting for acquisitions, disposals, depreciation and reconciliations.
• Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial management systems.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB 116, 136, 140, 13, 16) desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain Financial Asset Register and Corporate Asset Management System with monthly reconciliations.
• Coordinate annual asset revaluations and fair value reporting across asset classes.
• Manage lease accounting, financial modelling, accounting papers and statutory returns.
• Maintain Development Contributions Register and reconciliations of revenue/expenditure.
• Support budgets, Long-Term Financial Plan and Annual Financial Statements with financial analysis.
• Monitor asset renewals funded by SRV and report outcomes.
• Provide specialist financial advice to Asset Managers and committees.
• Drive continuous improvement of asset management and accounting processes.
• Coordinate audit papers and respond to audit findings with stakeholders.
• Keep up-to-date with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
