Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking Assembly Operators to join the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Production Facility at Wellcamp Toowoomba, QLD. You will contribute to precision assembly of airframe structures using advanced automation, tooling and quality processes.

You will be part of a high-performing team delivering Australia’s first military-designed combat aircraft in 50+ years, with safety, traceability and continuous improvement at the core.

Qualifications

  • Experience in production or aerospace is beneficial.
  • Ability to read technical work instructions and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision assembly, fit-up, riveting, bonding and fastening of airframe structures.
  • Work with automation equipment, robots and NC machines.
  • Install and route wiring harnesses and avionics modules.
  • Carry out first article builds and conform to configuration control.
  • Use jigs and tooling safely and support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct factory acceptance checks and assist with production tests.
  • Maintain safety, quality and traceability in a regulated defence environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and Quality team to resolve issues.

The OpportunityBoeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for Assembly Operators to join the MQ‑28 Ghost Bat Production Facility nearing construction completion at Wellcamp Toowoomba, QLD. These roles will be part of a team that builds something that matters, grow with a high-performing team, and leave a legacy in Australian defence manufacturing.

What you'll get to do
  • Perform precision assembly, fit‑up, riveting, bonding and fastening of airframe structures and sub‑assemblies.
  • Work alongside advanced automation equipment, including robots and NC machines.
  • Install and route wiring harnesses, avionics modules and mechanical systems per work instructions.
  • Carry out first article builds, build sub assemblies and conform to configuration control processes.
  • Use jigs, fixtures and tooling safely and accurately; support tooling and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct factory acceptance checks, functional tests and assist with production test activities.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and traceability in a regulated defence environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and the Quality team to resolve issues and improve manufacturing processes.
Who we're looking for
  • Prior experience in production, aerospace or precision manufacturing industries is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Experienced in use of hand tools, power tools and common assembly equipment; experience with composites or riveting (solid/hi‑loc) advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and pride in doing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to read and follow technical work instructions, drawings and safety procedures.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to work on shift rosters as required.
