Job summary

Australian Signals Directorate in Canberra is searching for AI/ML Engineers to deploy, monitor, and improve production AI systems within the MD division. You will help develop and maintain ASD’s Enterprise MLOps Platform and support diverse users across teams.

You will collaborate with data scientists to ensure models are performant and stable for production, and you may lead efforts with other engineering teams to integrate AI services and optimise ML code.

Qualifications

• Experience deploying AI/ML models to production environments.
• Experience developing and maintaining an Enterprise MLOps Platform.
• Ability to support users and integrate services with existing systems.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists on ML models.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AI models under direction for ASD 4 & 5.
• Develop and maintain ASD’s in‑house Enterprise MLOps Platform under direction.
• Provide support to users and assist other engineers integrating with ASD services.
• Work with data scientists to ensure ML models are performant and production‑ready.
• Independently deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AI models for ASD 6.
• Independently develop and maintain ASD’s in‑house Enterprise MLOps Platform.
• Lead design of technical systems and supervise junior staff.
• Lead engagements with other engineering teams to integrate with ASD AI services.
• Review and optimise production ML code.

Australian Signals Directorate – Canberra ACT

Mission Data (MD) Division within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is responsible for providing the foundational data capabilities to support all of ASD’s functions. We do this via the provision of data platforms and services, management of ASD’s mission data, and providing complex analytic development and support, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities.

The AI Engineering team in MD builds and deploys production AI systems at scale. They work with data scientists and other engineers to develop cutting‑edge machine learning systems.

Key Duties:

ASD 4 & 5

• Under direction deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AI models.
• Under direction develop and maintain ASD’s in‑house Enterprise MLOps Platform.
• Provide support to a range of users including assisting other engineers to integrate with our services.
• Work with data scientists developing ML models to ensure they are sufficiently performant and stable for production.

ASD 6

• Independently deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AI models.
• Independently develop and maintain ASD’s in‑house Enterprise MLOps Platform.
• Lead team lines of effort including the design of technical systems and supervision of junior staff.
• Lead engagements with other engineering teams seeking to integrate with our enterprise AI services.
• Review and optimise production ML code.
