Job summary

Rural Fire Service Queensland is seeking an Area Manager (FSINS) for the Central West to lead an Area team, work with volunteers and stakeholders, and manage bushfire preparedness and response. The role includes resource coordination, asset management, and participating in area-wide programs to enhance safety in local communities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Area team in delivering regional strategic and operational plans to support brigades and volunteers.
• Manage change programs through consultation with staff and volunteers to embed reforms.
• Act as Chief Fire Warden for the Area and support prescribed burns and permit to light processes.
• Coordinate with Regional Duty Manager to maintain situational awareness and respond to large incidents, providing on-site command when required.
• Oversee human and physical resources to keep Area operations ready and capable.
• Authorize maintenance for assets, fleet, and infrastructure to ensure readiness.
• Attend Rural Fire Brigade/Group meetings to provide updates and governance support.
• Participate in forums and exercises to foster collaboration in bushfire and emergency management.
• Lead data quality improvements and reporting across corporate systems.
