Bearspace is a Brisbane design studio seeking an Architectural Designer, Architectural Technician or Draftsperson to advance documentation and detailing across architecture and interiors. You’ll collaborate with a small, tight-knit team, grow your Revit skills and contribute to refurbishment, fitout and broader projects.

The role offers broad exposure, site involvement and increasing ownership as you develop.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry experience in architectural design, drafting or related roles.
• 12 months Australian practice experience is ideal, familiarity with local standards.
• Strong Revit capability for documentation and detailing.
• Good drafting and documentation skills across architecture and interiors.

We’re a small, tight-knit team, which means you won’t disappear into a large practice or spend years working on one small component of a project. You’ll work closely with the broader team, have visibility across projects and see how ideas develop from design through to documentation and delivery.

Our work crosses architecture and interiors, including refurbishment and fitout projects, giving you the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of how spaces are designed, detailed and ultimately built.

The Role

We’re looking for an Architectural Designer, Architectural Technician or Draftsperson who enjoys the technical and documentation side of projects and wants to continue developing their career.

Your background could be in architecture, architectural drafting, architectural technology or interiors. You might be an architectural graduate with a few years behind you, an Architectural Designer, an Architectural Technician, or an experienced Draftsperson who loves documentation and detailing.
You’ll work closely with the design team to take ideas and turn them into well-resolved, coordinated and construction-ready documentation.

Depending on your experience, you’ll be involved in:

• Revit modelling, drafting and documentation
• Producing plans, elevations, sections and detailed drawings
• Developing architectural and interior documentation packages
• Design development and technical detailing
• Working across refurbishment, fitout and architectural projects
• Coordinating architectural, interior and consultant documentation
• Working with architects, designers, consultants, suppliers and builders

About You

You’re probably someone with a few years of industry experience who has built a good technical foundation and is now looking for a studio where you can get broader exposure and continue developing.

You may have trained in Australia or overseas. Ideally, you’ll have at least 12 months' experience working within an Australian architecture or design practice, so you already have some familiarity with local documentation, construction processes and standards.

Experience working across architecture and interiors, particularly refurbishment or fitout projects, would be highly regarded.
More than anything, you’ll enjoy being part of a small, collaborative team. You’re happy getting into the detail, asking questions, solving problems and taking responsibility for getting things done properly.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Around 2+ years' experience as an Architectural Designer, Architectural Technician, Draftsperson or similar
• At least 12 months' Australian practice experience
• Strong Revit capability
• Good architectural drafting and documentation skills
• Experience across architecture, interiors, refurbishment or fitout projects
• A good understanding of construction and detailing
• An eye for design and strong attention to detail
• An understanding of Australian building standards and documentation requirements
• The ability to work through technical problems and find practical solutions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership
• A genuine interest in continuing to learn and develop
