Job summary

face2face Recruitment is recruiting APS6 Support Need Assessors across multiple locations in Australia on a casual on-hire basis. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of $61.86 plus superannuation and a mix of onsite and remote work.

You will conduct participant-centered assessments, engage families and representatives, and prepare evidence-based reports to inform critical support decisions. Successful candidates will hold a tertiary qualification in Allied Health or related disciplines and

About the Opportunity

Our client, a prominent Australian Government agency dedicated to supporting people with disability, is seeking experienced APS6 Support Need Assessors to join their team. This is a meaningful and impactful role where you will contribute to ensuring participants receive fair, high-quality, and person-centered assessments that inform critical support decisions.

Key Responsibilities

As an APS6 Support Need Assessor, you will:

• Conduct detailed assessments by engaging with participants, their families, and representatives
• Gather, analyse, and interpret complex information to produce accurate, evidence-based reports
• Deliver clear, transparent communication across virtual and face-to-face interactions
• Apply relevant policies, legislation, and ethical frameworks in all assessment activities
• Adopt trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and participant-centered approaches
• Collaborate with internal teams to drive consistency, quality outcomes, and service improvements
• Maintain accurate records and utilise digital systems effectively and securely
• Adapt assessment approaches to meet diverse participant needs
• Contribute to a positive team environment, including mentoring and knowledge sharing

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A recognised tertiary qualification in Allied Health or related disciplines, such as:
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Social Work
  • Nursing
  • Counselling (or similar)
• Demonstrated experience in conducting support needs assessments
• Strong commitment to person-centered, strengths-based practice
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Well-developed analytical and decision-making capabilities
• Sound knowledge of disability legislation, policy, and operational frameworks
• Proven ability to work sensitively with diverse communities using inclusive and trauma-informed practice
