Job description

Our federal government client is responsible for developing a significant national strategy, in consultation with industry, state and territory governments and the community.

This work reflects findings from recent parliamentary inquiries, as well as research from national research and industry bodies. The strategy is due for release in 2027.

The Opportunity

This role sits with our federal government client, in a team responsible for policy development, drafting and stakeholder engagement for a significant national strategy.

You will work alongside colleagues managing research, secretariat support, communications and project reporting, contributing directly to a policy document that will shape government's future approach in this area.

Our client engages widely across government, including through a national advisory council and a range of interdepartmental working groups, as well as with industry and community stakeholders.

You’ll have an opportunity to:

  • Contribute directly to the drafting of a national strategy, with a confirmed 2027 release
  • Work across policy, research, stakeholder engagement and communications in one role, rather than a narrow remit
  • Gain exposure to departmental and ministerial briefing processes
  • Build experience providing secretariat support to a ministerial-level advisory council
  • Work across a broad stakeholder base spanning government, industry and community organisations

  • Assisting with preparing departmental and ministerial briefs, papers, input to speeches and Ministerial correspondence
  • Contributing to quality assurance of project and program materials, including executive briefs, reports, dashboards and procurement documentation
The Ideal Person

You're comfortable moving between policy drafting, stakeholder coordination and administrative detail, and you stay organised when priorities shift across a broad, multi-stakeholder program.

You will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in policy development, research or analysis, ideally within government or a related environment
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to draft briefs, correspondence and communications material for different audiences
