Job summary

DFP Recruitment is seeking an APS6 Design Strategist in Surry Hills, NSW, to support strategic planning, policy development and project delivery for a Federal Government client. You will contribute to business cases, briefs and corporate documentation while coordinating complex initiatives and budgets, under EL1 guidance.

The role emphasizes independent analysis, strong written communication, and effective stakeholder engagement to improve outcomes for people with disability.

Qualifications

• Experience in policy, strategy or related field.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written communication; ability to prepare briefing papers, reports and policy documents.
• Ability to interpret policies and apply sound judgement to complex issues.
• Strong planning and organisational skills with deadlines and reporting.
• Confident engaging stakeholders and providing well-supported advice.
• Ability to work independently and support team priorities.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing project plans, schedules and regular progress reporting.
• Undertaking independent research and analysis to inform policy, strategy and project activities.
• Preparing business cases, executive briefs, reports, plans and corporate documentation.
• Interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy and procedural material.
• Providing specialist advice to staff and stakeholders on complex matters.
• Monitoring project budgets and expenditure, and assisting with procurement and contract management.
• Identifying and managing project risks, issues and benefits.
• Supporting project quality to ensure deliverables meet stakeholder needs.
• Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to committees and forums.
