Job summary

IP Australia is seeking a Web Content Officer to drive content strategy and delivery for the corporate website within the Digital Experience team. You’ll report to the Web Content Lead and collaborate with stakeholders across the agency to ensure audience-focused, accurate, engaging, and accessible content.

The role may involve part-time work supporting the Web, Multimedia and Design team for content writing on other web platforms and reviewing educational materials, with duties spanning content

Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills with ability to simplify complex information
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and user-centred design principles
• Experience with content management systems (Sitecore is desirable)
• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge desirable
• Experience with web-based communication platforms (SharePoint is desirable)
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Hands-on approach with ownership of routine and complex work
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and project coordination abilities
• Strong data literacy to use analytics to improve content

We are seeking an experienced Web Content Officer to assist in driving the content strategy and delivery for IP Australia’s corporate website in the Digital Experience team. Reporting to the Web Content Lead, you will play a key role in shaping how our digital content informs, engages, and supports our diverse audiences. Working with stakeholders across the agency you will ensure that the content is written for the audience, and is accurate, engaging and accessible.

The Web Content Officer will also have the opportunity to work in the Web, Multimedia and Design team on a part-time basis to support them in content writing for other web-based platforms, and reviewing graphically designed education materials.

Duties include:

• Write, edit, and publish content that is accurate, engaging, and accessible
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex legal and technical information into plain English
• Conduct keyword research and optimise metadata, headings, and page structure
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure content accuracy and relevance
• Ensure content complies with accessibility requirements, the Australian Government Digital Experience Policy and supporting standards, and agency policies.

Job specific capabilities

We are looking for someone who has:

• strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
• knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG), and user-centred design principles
• experience using content management systems (Sitecore is desirable, but not essential)
• basic HTML knowledge and an understanding of CSS is desirable
• experience in using web-based communication platforms (SharePoint is desirable, but not essential)
• ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, all with conflicting deadlines and timeframes
• a practical, hands-on approach, with a willingness to take ownership of both routine operational tasks and more complex pieces of work
• excellent stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills, with the ability to negotiate priorities and influence outcomes, and
• strong data literacy skills to use analytics and feedback to refine content.
