Supporting training delivery from Initial Military Training through to advanced Leadership and Management programs across Australia, the role maintains oversight of organisational taskings, training requirements, records, and key information to ensure stakeholders have visibility of responsibilities, deadlines and outcomes.
The position acts as the custodian of Training Authority corporate knowledge, maintaining records of audits, reviews, reports, directives, and historical decisions to support informed decision-making, organisational continuity, and curriculum integrity.
Working closely with military and APS stakeholders, the Staff Officer Training coordinates responses to requests for information, monitors taskings and reporting requirements, develops policies and procedures, and ensures critical information is captured, managed, and accessible to support effective training management.
The Training Authority Initial Training Leadership and Management (TA-ITLM) team is responsible for the management, coordination and oversight of Navy's Leadership and Management training continuum, spanning Initial Military Training (IMT) through to advanced leadership and professional development programs for sailors and officers across Australia.
The team develops and maintains training policy, manages training requirements, and ensures Navy's leadership and management training remains aligned with Defence priorities, workforce needs, and capability outcomes. Through the coordination of directed training initiatives, management of organisational knowledge, and support to Navy's leadership and management training continuum, the team contributes directly to workforce generation, professional mastery, and the development of Navy's future leaders, ensuring they are equipped to lead effectively, uphold Defence values, and contribute to operational capability throughout their careers.
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and highly organised professional with a strong aptitude for information and knowledge management. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, tracking complex taskings, and maintaining visibility of organisational commitments, deadlines and outcomes. You will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to research, develop and maintain policies, procedures and directives, while engaging confidently with military and civilian stakeholders across Defence.
Success in this role requires initiative, sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to transform large volumes of information into meaningful advice and actionable outcomes.
