Job summary

Zeal Futures Pty is offering an apprenticeship aligned with a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade. You’ll assist tradespeople, maintain equipment, operate workshop tools, and support documentation and safety procedures.

Training includes both practical and theoretical elements with mentoring and real career opportunities. Applicants should show genuine interest in mechanics, a proactive attitude, good communication, and the ability to work in a team.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in mechanics, machinery and maintenance.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new skills.
• Good computer skills and ability to complete basic documentation.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and attention to detail.

• Good communication and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified tradespeople with routine maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Maintain and repair machinery, equipment and workshop tools.
• Operate workshop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, cut-off saws and welders.
• Assist with workshop organisation, spare parts management and housekeeping.
• Support work order processes, including recording time and documentation.
• Learn to identify mechanical faults and assist with troubleshooting.
• Use hand tools and machinery to complete maintenance tasks.
• Operate forklifts and work at heights under supervision.
• Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Carry out other duties within trainee skills and ability.

Job description

Whilst studying an Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade over 48 months, you’ll have the opportunity to work on:

• Assisting qualified tradespeople with routine maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment and workshop tools.
• Operating workshop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, cut-off saws and welders.
• Assisting with workshop organisation, spare parts management and general housekeeping.
• Supporting work order processes, including recording time and completing relevant documentation.
• Learning to identify mechanical faults and assist with troubleshooting.
• Using hand tools and machinery to complete mechanical maintenance tasks.
• Operating forklifts and working at heights under appropriate training and supervision.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Carry out other duties that are within the limits of trainee skills, competence and ability as required.
