Job summary

TasNetworks is offering a 4-year Lineworker Apprenticeship based out of the Huonville depot in Tasmania. The program combines on-the-job training with classroom learning to earn the Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead and achieve a permanent role in the region.

You will need Year 12 with Maths and English (Science preferred), or related pre-vocational studies, with a view to completing the trade Certificate. Applicants must pass medical and hold a provisional driver's licence at start.

• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with peers, leaders and customers.
• Ability to work towards completion of the relevant trade Certificate and adhere to safety practices.
• Mandatory pre-employment medical, current provisional drivers licence and eligibility requirements.
• Completed Year 12 with Maths/English and preferably Science, or related pre-vocational studies or relevant work experience.

About The Role

1st Year Distribution Lineworker Apprentice Salary - $79,355 per annum (plus Super)

As a Distribution Lineworker Apprentice, you'll maintain and upgrade the poles and wires that power homes and businesses across the state. This isn't domestic electrical work - it's a unique trade that puts you at the heart of Tasmania's energy network.

Working towards a Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead (UET30521) you'll:

• Learn both on the job and in the classroom

• Help maintain and build Tasmania's distribution network
• Receive ongoing support, coaching and feedback as you develop your skills

About You

First and foremost, you will be motivated and passionate about building your career whilst making a meaningful difference in your community.

To be eligible to participate in our Apprenticeship program, you must have the ability to work towards completion of the relevant trade Certificate, adhere to health, safety and environmental practices in the workplace, possess strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with peers, leaders and our customers.

You will need to be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and hold a current provisional drivers' licence by commencement date in February 2027.

You will need to have completed Year 12 and passed Maths, English and preferably a Science subject, OR have completed pre-vocational studies in Certificate II in Electrotechnology (or equivalent) OR have relevant work experience to be eligible.
