Job summary

TasNetworks is seeking a Distribution Lineworker Apprentice to join the New Norfolk depot. The 4-year program combines on‑the‑job training with classroom learning, with a salary of $79,355 per annum plus Super, and a pathway to a permanent role as a tradesperson.

You will be outdoors, work at heights, and develop hands‑on skills while contributing to Tasmania's energy network. Excellent benefits and mentorship are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have Year 12 with Maths and English, science preferred.
• Alternatively a Certificate II in Electrotechnology or equivalent.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residence or valid visa.
• Pass a pre-employment medical examination.
• Current provisional drivers' licence by commencement date.

About the role

1st Year Distribution Lineworker Apprentice Salary - $79,355 per annum (plus Super)

As a Distribution Lineworker Apprentice, you'll maintain and upgrade the poles and wires that power homes and businesses across the state. This isn't domestic electrical work - it's a unique trade that puts you at the heart of Tasmania's energy network.

Working towards a Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead (UET30521)

• Learn both on the job and in the classroom
• Work alongside experienced Lineworkers and industry experts

• Help maintain and build Tasmania's distribution network
• Receive ongoing support, coaching and feedback as you develop your skills

About you

First and foremost, you will be motivated and passionate about building your career whilst making a meaningful difference in your community.

To be eligible to participate in our Apprenticeship program, you must have the ability to work towards completion of the relevant trade Certificate, adhere to health, safety and environmental practices in the workplace, possess strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with peers, leaders and our customers.

You will need to be physically fit and able to pass a pre‑employment medical examination and hold a current provisional drivers' licence by commencement date in February 2027.

You will need to have completed Year 12 and passed Maths, English and preferably a Science subject, OR have completed pre‑vocational studies in Certificate II in Electrotechnology (or equivalent) OR have relevant work experience to be eligible.
