Job summary

Xero is seeking an Engineering Manager for Applied AI in Sydney. You will lead the Internal AI Accelerator, shaping strategy and delivery of agentic AI workflows that reduce toil and accelerate decision-making.

You will collaborate with G&A, Finance, P&C, IT, and product teams to create reusable AI patterns and governance frameworks that endure beyond your tenure. You will work in a hybrid model with core office days in Sydney, reporting to Engineering Leadership.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading AI/ML engineering teams.
• Strong ability to translate business needs into technical roadmaps.
• Excellent strategic and operational planning skills.
• Exceptional communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Internal AI Accelerator team.
• Own strategy, delivery and roadmap for agentic AI workflows.
• Partner with business leaders across functions to co-build AI patterns.
• Build playbooks and reference architectures for scalable AI delivery.
• Establish governance, safety, evaluation, and ops practices at scale.
