Job summary

RS Group in Sydney is seeking an Application Engineer to provide technical guidance, understand customer needs, and drive business growth across the market. You will act as the technical expert supporting sales and business teams.

The role requires a minimum of five years’ experience in electronics, mechanical, industrial, or RS industry roles, strong communication, and the ability to work independently. You’ll develop product knowledge, deliver training, and support product launches.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Application Engineer in electronics, mechanical, industrial, distribution, or related RS industry roles.
• Strong communication skills to engage effectively at all business levels.
• Self-motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to provide value-added technical specification and engineering advice to customers.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical expert supporting sales and business teams
• Build and maintain product knowledge (FAQs, comparisons, alternatives)
• Deliver product and technical training to sales teams and customers
• Support new product selection and launches with Product and Supplier Managers
• Develop strong knowledge of the RS Pro product range and applications
• Provide technical advice to customers and internal sales teams
• Support sales and marketing with technical solutions and value propositions
• Identify customer projects and specification opportunities
• Support trade shows, demos, and technical marketing activities
• Engage with customers across the full sales cycle, including post-sales support
