Job summary

Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design for APAC data centers. You will oversee MV/LV infrastructure, generators, UPS, switchgear, and earthing, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams across the region.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive understanding of APAC code requirements for MV and LV electrical equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, or 10+ years electrical engineering experience.
• Cross Discipline Design Coordination experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set.
• Work with internal teams to understand and respond to evolving user requirements.
• Participate in site selection reviews.
• Critical Data Center equipment design including site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing.
• Create designs that meet quality and budget requirements.
• Specify electrical equipment with regional vendors and manufacturers.
• Define site utility requirements with local utilities.
• Ensure compliance with IEC requirements and APAC design codes.
• Review and approve equipment submittals.
• Define project scope and provide technical support before and during construction.
• Coordinate with commissioning teams to test and validate installations.
• Manage concurrent projects across multiple regions.
• Travel to sites for site reviews and work with onsite field engineers.
• Provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup support as needed.
• Be a leader within the global group and with internal/external teams supporting AWS data centers.
