Job summary

JCUVet in Townsville, Queensland is seeking an Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA) for a full-time, 14-month maximum term contract. You will support hospital cleanliness, laundry, stock management and equipment prep while assisting veterinary nurses and clinicians in a busy teaching hospital environment.

Ideal candidates are reliable, detail-focused and capable of handling physical tasks with a passion for animal care.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake Certificate II in Animal Care as part of development.
• Genuine passion for animal care and welfare.
• Comfort with regular, hands-on, physical tasks and cleaning duties.
• Excellent attention to detail, hygiene and organisation.
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to work autonomously when needed.

Responsibilities

• Hospital cleaning and maintenance of wards, kennels, rooms and theatres.
• Patient accommodation cleaning, disinfection and hygiene routines.
• Laundry and linen management, sorting and distribution.
• Stock receiving, unpacking and restocking hospital supplies.
• Cleaning and preparing instruments and equipment for use.
• Preparing clinical areas between patients and procedures.
• Waste management following infection control guidelines.
• Assisting with basic animal care and husbandry under veterinary staff direction.
• Team support to ensure smooth hospital operation.
