The Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane is seeking a Veterinary Nurse Assistant for casual shifts (5pm–11pm, 3am–7am on weekdays; 4am–9am, 10am–4pm, 5pm–11pm on weekends/public holidays). Be part of a nationwide group of specialist and emergency hospitals, supporting our nursing team in delivering exceptional patient care.

Role focuses on animal handling, monitoring patients, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting veterinarians and nurses within a state-of-the-art facility.

Formación

• Certificate II/III in Animal Studies or currently studying.
• Experience in the animal care industry desirable.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to handle animals with gentleness and confidence.

Responsabilidades

• Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians as required.
• Monitor and care for hospitalized patients (ECC team guidance).
• Administer medications as directed by the ECC team.
• Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities.
• Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion.
• Animal cage cleaning and re-setting; cleaning patient bowls.
• Walking, feeding and offering water to patients under nurse instruction.
• Restocking disposables (needles, syringes) and pharmacy items.
• Maintain cleanliness of hospital areas throughout the day/evening.
• Daily laundry upkeep.

Veterinary Nurse Assistant | ARH Brisbane | Casual positions

Weekday shifts; 5pm - 11pm and 3am-7am

ARH Brisbane is part of a well-established nation-wide group of specialist and emergency veterinary hospitals. Our purpose-designed, state of the art hospital houses our specialty services, including small animal surgery, internal medicine, neurology, surgical and medical oncology, and emergency and critical care service. As a Veterinary Nurse Assistant at ARH Brisbane, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary nursing team in delivering top-notch care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with animal handling, monitoring patients, maintaining cleanliness in the hospital, and providing support to our veterinarians and nurses.

Duties will include:

• Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians as required
• Monitor and care for hospitalized patients (under the guidance of the ECC team)
• Administer medications as directed by the ECC team
• Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital facilities
• Handle and restrain animals with care and compassion
• Animal cage cleaning and re-setting, cleaning patient bowls etc.
• Walking, feeding and offering water to patients under nurse instruction
• Restocking disposables (needles, syringes etc) and pharmacy (medication)
• Maintaining cleanliness of hospital areas throughout the day/evening as required, including floors in treatment, ICU and ward spaces
• Daily laundry upkeep

• Hold a Certificate II/III in Animal Studies or currently studying
• Previous experience in the animal care industry highly desirable
