Job summary

JPS Recruitment Group is seeking a Registered Nurse for Mackay Base Hospital's Day Surgery Unit on a two-week contract starting 26 October 2026. Based in Mackay, Queensland, this Grade 5 role features extended day surgery exposure and a 24/7 roster with 6, 8, 10 and 12‑hour shifts across a rotating schedule.

Preferred candidates will hold current AHPRA registration, demonstrate flexibility for shift patterns, and show strong perioperative communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia.
• Ability to work flexibly across rotating early, late and night shifts.
• Strong clinical communication and teamwork skills in a perioperative environment.
• Competence with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
• Willingness to adapt to different ward areas as required.

Responsibilities

• Two-week contract role in a busy Day Surgery Unit with rotating shift patterns.
• Maximum 80 hours per fortnight across flexible 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts.
• Potential to pool to other wards as needed, offering variety and broader clinical exposure.
