Job summary

Western Freight Management is seeking an experienced AM Operations Supervisor to lead daytime transport operations, ensuring driver safety, service reliability and operational efficiency across our linehaul network. Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will own daily activities and maintain strong communication with drivers, customers, compliance, workshop teams and depot management.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport, logistics or fleet operations with supervisory background.
• HC or MC licence highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle and linehaul operations.
• Mechanically minded with practical problem-solving ability.
• Proficient with Outlook and Excel for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor drivers and schedules using tracking systems to meet linehaul commitments.
• Manage driver fatigue using Guardian systems and wake-up calls.
• Provide regular customer updates on ETAs and service issues via email.
• Monitor and report overspeed events and vehicle issues.
• Coordinate vehicle breakdowns and recovery to minimise customer impact.
• Issue NCRs and coordinate training under NCR outcomes.
• Coordinate vehicle movements and liaise with depots and workshop teams.
• Conduct daily operational reporting and maintain accurate records.

About Us

WFM is a family-owned transport business with depots located in Eastern Creek, Orange and Parkes (NSW), Tullamarine (VIC), and Bundamba (QLD).

We provide linehaul services to a range of blue-chip clients and operate a modern fleet of over 150 trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities

Daily operational duties include:

• Monitoring drivers via tracking systems to ensure schedules and linehaul commitments are met.
• Managing driver fatigue using Guardian systems and pre-arranged wake-up calls where required.
• Providing regular email communication to customers regarding linehaul ETA updates and service issues.
• Monitoring and reporting over-speed events.
• Managing and coordinating vehicle breakdowns, including recovery strategies to minimise customer impact.
• Issuing verbal warnings, warning letters, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in coordination with the Compliance Department and National Operations Manager.
• Coordinating and facilitating driver training as required under NCR outcomes.
• Coordinating vehicle movements, including delivering and collecting vehicles from repairers as required.
• Assisting with driver transport arrangements where required.
• Completing daily operational reporting and maintaining accurate records.
• Conducting structured handovers with PM and night operations teams to ensure continuity across shifts.
• Working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure vehicles are rotated appropriately for maintenance and repairs.
• Liaising with managers across all depots to support daily operational requirements.
• Identifying and resolving operational issues to minimise delays and maintain service standards.
• Supporting driver performance, safety, compliance, and accountability across the fleet.
• Performing other duties as required to support safe and efficient transport operations.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations, with supervisory experience preferred.
• HC or MC licence highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle and linehaul operations.
• Mechanically minded, with practical problem-solving ability.
• Computer literate, with confidence using Outlook, Excel, and internal systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with drivers, customers, and management.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands, and make sound operational decisions.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a fast-paced daytime operation.
