Job summary

Airbus Australia Pacific is seeking a Senior Engineer System Safety to act as a technical authority and airworthiness champion within the Aviation Product Safety team. You will evaluate safety risks, navigate regulatory frameworks, and drive a proactive safety culture across aerospace platforms.

Reporting to the Aviation Product Safety Team Lead, you will deliver safety analyses, support Continued Airworthiness, and contribute to programs to ensure compliance with DASR, CASA and OEM standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Avionics, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Software, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably in aviation.
• Strong knowledge of DASR, CAANZ, CASA regulations.
• Solid understanding of system safety principles and cost drivers.
• Ability to obtain Engineering Authority and Chartered credentials.
• Experience with Australian Defence Force platforms or aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Execute Aviation Product Safety processes within the Safety Framework.
• Perform Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for modifications and provide hazard analyses.
• Provide System Safety expertise to stakeholders and support CAM/Engineering.
• Support actions requested by Office of Airworthiness or incidents.
• Develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness within Engineering Authority limits.
• Maintain data files, records, and QMS/EMS compliance.
• Chair the In-Service System Safety Working Group and represent Airbus in safety forums.
• Author SRAs for key programs/contracts.
• Conduct process reviews to close audit findings.
