Job summary

Textron Aviation in Essendon Fields, Victoria is seeking a skilled Structures/Sheet Metal Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to maintain and repair aircraft structures and sheet metal components, performing fabrication, installation, and inspection per SRMs and drawings.

You will interpret drawings, SRMs, maintain documentation, ensure safety and quality, mentor apprentices, and collaborate with engineers to uphold airworthiness across Textron Aviation aircraft.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience performing aircraft structural maintenance and sheet metal repairs within an aviation maintenance environment.
• Experience on business jet or general aviation aircraft preferred, particularly Textron Aviation products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft Structural Repair Manuals (SRM) and approved maintenance data.
• Skilled in aircraft sheet metal fabrication, structural repairs, riveting, corrosion identification and treatment techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Perform aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and sheet metal maintenance on Textron Aviation aircraft.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and maintenance instructions.
• Fabricate, form, modify, and install sheet metal components and assemblies.
• Remove and install rivets, fasteners, panels, and structural aircraft components.
• Drill, ream, countersink, dimple, deburr, and assemble aircraft structural parts.
• Install solid and blind rivets, bolts, screws, nutplates, and associated hardware.
• Inspect aircraft structures for damage, defects, corrosion, fatigue, and wear.
• Perform corrosion treatment, repair, prevention, and application of approved surface protection coatings, primers, and finishes.
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all workplace safety and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to apprentices and less experienced maintenance personnel.
